This is a private authentic fishing and sightseeing tour! You sail in a traditional Faroese boat facilitating mindful exploration. There can be up to 5 guests on board.
Funningsfjørður is one of the most beautiful fiords in the Faroe Islands. There are towering mountains to both sides as you sail out the fiord. The seashore is varied with gorges and dramatic landscapes. On the tour you hear local stories from the area.
You sail from the marina of Funningsfjørður on Eysturoy. Following the western seashore you approach the beautiful village of Funningur with a backdrop of Slættaratindur, the highest mountain of the Faroe Islands. You sail further to the cape of Funningsmúli where you sail into a sea-cave. To the east you see the majestic island of Kalsoy.
In the area by Funningsmúli you cast your fishing line! The area is known for good fishing. Some of the fish you may catch are Haddock, Atlantic cod and Saithe. Sometimes you are in luck to catch other species including Ling, Whiting and flatfish.
You cross the fiord towards the the village Elduvík. Sailing by the old boat houses you hear about the old fishing in traditional Faroese rowing boats. You visit the scenic gorge Elduvíksgjógv. For centuries, this gorge has been used as a natural harbor by the people of Elduvík.
You are likely to see seabirds such as puffins, guillemot, razorbill, Arctic tern, black guillemot and fulmar.
