This is an authentic fishing experience! You sail in a traditional Faroese boat – the utmost of Faroese handicraft. The Faroese boat was a lifeline to the people that settled the beautiful villages you see along the coastline. With this boat type people discovered rich fishing grounds. Now you can follow in their footsteps.

You sail from the marina of Funningsfjørður on Eysturoy. You sail out through the fiord close to the beautiful eastern coastline. The high mountains on both sides of the fiord give shelter from winds. The seashore is varied with gorges and interesting landscapes. Up on the steep slopes you see the semi-wild grazing sheep.

You head towards Elduvíksnes and sail through Barmur towards the natural gorge Elduvíksgjógv. You procede along the shore by idyllic village Elduvík. To the east you see the majestic island Kallsoy. Here you cast your fishing line! Typical fish in these waters are Atlantic cod, haddock, whiting, saithe, ling and tusk.

You sail across the fiord towards Funningsmúli and try to cast your line of the coast. On your way back to the marina you follow the scenic western seashore of the fiord where you will sail close to the beautiful village of Funningur.

Should you be blessed by mother nature with a catch, you get to take to take fish with you to prepare for a wonderful meal. Nowhere on the planet can you find fish as tasty and fresh as this!

Tour information:

Small group tour: There are only up to 5 guests on each tour. This tour needs a minimum of 2 adult tickets to depart. By booking 5 tickets you ensure a private tour. By request we can arrange this tour for groups of up to 15 guests in three boats, each with their own skipper/guide.

Available: By schedule from May through September and otherwise by request.
